Norrby is situated in Ydre on the boarder between
Småland and Östergötland. The closest cities are
Tranås (25 km) and Eksjö (35 km). Norrby is approximately
350 km from Malmö, 250 km from Gothenburg and 300 km from
Stockholm. A village shop, café and pharmacy are located
in Asby, just 3 km from Norrby.
The mansion and the estate have a long history.
Among other things, there are burial plots and relics of antiquity
from the Iron Age. Most of the cottages where built by our family
during the 19th century. All of them have unique names with adherent
anecdotes and histories. In recent years we have modernised the
house and cottages installing water and sewage system. The houses
are situated far from each other and they are all well protected
and private. A stay at Norrby is an experience of nature spiced
with history and culture.
We run forestry and a smaller ecological farming
livestock.
The beach, with a dock is found at our lake
Sundsjön. The lake and the beach are bicycling distance from all
our houses. There are also bigger beaches and places to bath with
swimming school, kiosk etc. within a short drive.
Row boats can be borrowed if you want to
go out fishing. In the two lakes, which lie partly on the Norrby,
estate (Sundsjön and Välen) fishing is included on Norrby's
water. Fishing of crayfish is not allowed.
The sauna, "the banja" which we are proud
of is built according to a Russian model. It is privately situated
by the lake and can be booked for a small cost.
Firewood can be bought at Norrby mansion
for a reasonable price. All of the houses have fireplaces.
The forest. We are proud of the forest at
Norrby. Nowhere is the possibility of recreation as great! There
are plenty of wild animals and the vegetation is rich. Some areas
are specifically interesting with large habitat of key biotopes
and rare birds. In the late summer and autumn one can fill the
baskets with berries and mushrooms.
